SafeHaven Protections in Arizona

In 2022, the Arizona Medical Association championed legislation to support clinicians’ well-being and encourage them to seek timely mental health care.

HB2429, sponsored by ArMA member and Representative Amish Shah, MD, allows medical societies to run confidential support programs to evaluate and counsel clinicians on burnout, fatigue, or general wellness.

The confidentiality component of this legislation assures clinicians that their participation in SafeHaven is not subject to discovery in the event of a lawsuit. Through local, grassroots efforts, Arizona clinicians can now find their SafeHaven.
